The Adelaide Cabaret Festival has announced its full program, featuring some familiar and unexpected faces from near and far.

In her final year as artistic director, Kate Ceberano (who will be replaced by Barry Humphries in 2015) has pulled out all the stops with a theme of “Not Your Usual Suspects”. This includes Hollywood tough guy Robert Davi (Die Hard, License To Kill) taking on Frank Sinatra, Sister Act star Kathy Najimy and the return of Tim Rogers, whose Vandemonian Lags also features rock luminaries such as Mick Thomas, Ben Salter, Darren Hanlon and Liz Stringer. Other highlights for the June festival include Paul Capsis starring in Little Bird, a musical theatre co-production with the State Theatre Company where “Brothers Grimm meet Ziggy Stardust”, the pairing of Tripod with Eddie Perfect for the celebration of Australian songs – Perfect Tripod, legendary folk singer Melanie Safka, Archie Roach and one of the stars of the recent Oscar-winning documentary 20 Feet from Stardom (about renowned back-up singers) Darlene Love, who was part of Phil Spector’s wall of sound hit factory. The 16-day festival will feature 470 artists and 173 performances, which include 21 world premieres and 13 Australian premieres. “I’m so excited to be bringing you another collection of eclectic and inspiring shows for the 2014 Adelaide Cabaret Festival,” Artistic Director Kate Ceberano said in a press release. “If there was a collective noun for this group of cabaret performers it would surely be an ‘inspiration’ of cabaret artists! Over the last two Cabaret Festivals we have delighted in the widest possible definition of the genre and 2014 will be no exception. I’m so proud of this year’s program and can’t wait to share it with you in June.” View the full program hereThe 2014 Adelaide Cabaret Festival Adelaide Festival Centre Friday, June 6 to Saturday, June 21 adelaidefestivalcentre.com.au/adelaide-cabaret-festival
