Felicity Kendal Adelaide-bound to star in Hay Fever

Noël Coward’s Hay Fever is landing in Adelaide after its current UK run where the high farce is receiving rave notices.

Noël Coward’s Hay Fever is landing in Adelaide after its current UK run where the high farce is receiving rave notices. Featuring English stars of the stage and screen Felicity Kendal and Simon Shepherd in the lead roles, the current production of Noël Coward’s comedy of bad manners was called a “comic masterpiece” by the Guardian in its four star review. Hay Fever’s Adelaide run begins on Wednesday, December 3 at Her Majesty’s Theatre. Kendal, best known to Australian audiences for her work in TV’s The Good Life and Rosemary and Thyme, stars as Judith Bliss, a former star of the London stage who invites a young suitor to join her in the country. Her flirtatious weekend is ruined as her husband and children each had the same idea and invited a guest to the country getaway. “I’m so excited to be coming to Australia,” Kendal said in a press release. “This will be my first time performing on the Australian stage and I’m delighted to bring Noël Coward’s eccentric and wickedly fun Judith Bliss to Australian audiences in Hay Fever.” Simon Shepherd, who plays David Bliss, is a star of many West End productions, and was in five seasons of Peak Practice. Lindsay Posner, who directed Kendal in the West End production of Relatively Speaking and, surprisingly, will direct Lindsay Lohan in her West End debut, Speed the Plow, helms this production of Hay Fever. Tickets go on sale on Wednesday, September 3 from BASS. Hay Fever Her Majesty’s Theatre From Wednesday, December 3
