The 2013 Adelaide Fringe launched at the Fringe Warehouse today with 930 events announced for the annual arts celebration that will kickstart with the Fringe Parade on Friday, February 15.
Some of the highlight events for 2013 include the world premiere of Limbo, which is created by the team behind Cantina, the South American circus extravaganza Circolombia and Leo (from Soap’s creators). Aside from big name international and Australian comedy acts such as Ruby Wax, Stephen K Amos, Judith Lucy, Paul Foot and Sarah Millicon, music will once again star as two new outdoor live music venues, The Depot and Howl the Moon, will house acts such as The Whitlams with the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra (to close the Fringe) and The Yearlings. Other music acts bound for the Fringe include The Audreys, Katie Noonan, Gossling, Tex Perkins and Underground Lovers.
Adelaide Fringe Director Greg Clarke says the 2013 Adelaide Fringe will feature 114 cabaret shows, 32 circus and physical theatre shows, 107 theatre productions, 254 comedy events, 25 dance productions, seven film events, 105 art exhibitions and 197 music concerts.
Free Fringe events include the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Spirit Festival, Fringe in the Mall, the Fringe Street Theatre Festival, Port Augusta’s Desert Fringe and Window World, which will feature evening performance in the State Library of South Australia’s windows.
Running for four weeks, the Fringe’s printed guide won’t be released until early January but people can check the line-up and purchase tickets now from adelaidefringe.com.au.
The 2013 Adelaide Fringe runs from Friday, February 15 until Sunday, March 17.
