Although Hindmarsh is soccer headquarters for most of the year, during the Fringe it’s the theatre, and not sport, that rules supreme, as Holden Street Theatres host some of the globe’s best theatre talent for the 2013 Adelaide Fringe.
A splendid line-up of music, dance, cabaret, and even a sneaky illusion performance, will tempt your theatrical taste buds all the way to the box office from Tuesday, February 12 to Sunday, March 17. There is literally something for everyone and with Holden Street located just six minutes out of the CBD, and only a quick walk from the tramline, you have no excuse not to attend.
Here is a little sneak peak at what you're up for this year:
Glory Dazed: Winner of the 2102 Holden Street Theatres Edinburgh Fringe Award, Glory Dazed is a dark comedy, which explores the impact of war on returning soldiers. Developed with ex-servicemen in prison, Glory Dazed won the 2011 BBC Alfred Bradley Award.
Life in Miniature: Presented by one of Western Australia’s most innovative dance companies, Anything is Valid Dance Theatre, Life in Miniature will take you for a ride inside a vintage caravan focusing on people and time. This is dance at its absolute best.
Jenny Wynter’s Wonderland: Winner of Excellence in Cabaret at Melbourne’s 2011 Fringe, Jenny Wynter teams up with house band, Betty and the Betties, to bring you a Fringe wonderland show full of cabaret, improv and comedy.
Saffron Avenue: Teams songs from the 60s folk revival with re-packaged Melbourne style ballads and tunes.
