Designer rug competition call for entries

Registrations are open for the only South Australian designer based rug design competition, Terrace Floors & Furnishings DIA/NAG Rug Design Competition.

The competition’s theme ‘A Changing Space’ encourages entrants to work loosely to this idea using basic design principles to bring to life a clever rug design that has the capacity to define a space of their choice.

The competition, a collaboration between retailer Terrace Floors & Furnishings, the Design Institute of Australia (DIA), the New Architects Group (NAG) and Danish carpet manufacturer ege, is open to professional designers to explore the total freedom of custom rug design.

The aim of the competitions is to raise the standards of custom designs in carpet and rugs with each entrant required to use the product ege to create their original designs. Entry to the competition is free and more than one entry per person is welcomed, submissions are open until Monday, May 6.

Entries will be judged by three representatives from design backgrounds with the top three finalist designs to be completed by ege. The winning entrant will be invited to keep their prize or alternatively sell it in collaboration with Terrace Floors & Furnishings at their showroom.
