Cirque du Soleil is returning to Australia with TOTEM, the 2013 winner of the Drama Desk Award for Unique Theatrical Experience.

More than three million people across 25 cities worldwide have experienced the intimacy and beauty of TOTEM since its premiere in 2010. It will be performed in Adelaide from June 11, 2015. It features a cast of 45 acrobats, actors, musicians and singers, displaying an array of athleticism, comedy, emotion and surprising visual effects. TOTEM was written and directed by multidisciplinary artist Robert Lepage, and explores the evolutionary journey of the human species from its original amphibian state to its ultimate desire to fly. The show is “a radically different show to everything that the circus has produced” says Lepage in a press release and that it’s “entering the circus through a different doorway”. TOTEM launches in Sydney in October and tickets for all cities go on sale to the general public from Friday, May 9.
