Garden of Unearthly Delights Reveals 2017 Program

In a program packed with so many acts, the Garden will cover a broad range of genres and live styles in 2017, including the perennially popular comedy program, cabaret, live music, magic and family-friendly shows.

A roster including many of Australia’s favourite comic acts will have audiences chuckling throughout the Garden’s season, including Adelaide’s own Lehmo, Dave Hughes, Judith Lucy & Denise Scott, Tom Ballard, Wil Anderson, Cal Wilson, Sam Simmons, Puppetry of the Penis and the return of Rove McManus.

The fresh focus on live music will also see a broad spectrum of musicians play in the garden next year, including frequent Bjork collaborator Manu Delago, Ash Grunwald, Ella Cooper, Leo Sayer and Katie Noonan and Jo Lawry.

Boundary-pushing cabaret has also come to be a hallmark of the Garden’s yearly offering, and next year will be no different. Gay icon Reuben Kaye will premiere his show Success Story, while GRUMBLE: Sex Clown Saves the World will shock and entertain. Exposing Edith, Michaela Burger’s popular Edith Piaf tribute show, will also take place in the Garden this year.

Further botanical highlights sprouting in this festive Eden will include highly regarded theatrical comedy from Deena Flesher’s Butt Kapinski, comic circus from Jess Love in Notorious Strumpet and Dangerous Girl, the Penn and Teller protege magician Kevin Quantum.

The Garden has come to be one of Adelaide’s undeniable favourites throughout the February and March. Averaging attendances higher than 750,000 annually, the Garden has continued to grow in years past, taking over the entirety of Rundle Park throughout festival season.
