Here's To Now returns for 2016!

Post-New Year’s food, wine and music micro-festival Here’s To Now is back for another year, with a strong lineup of acts to complement the Happy Motel’s usual flavours.

Frolicking in the lingering glow and goodwill of the new year without the lingering hangovers, the event brings together innovative food producers with a handpicked roster musical talent. After last year’s sold out event set performances from rising stars like Nai Palm, Oisima and Marlon Williams Jr. against the rolling McLaren Vale hills of the Coriole Vineyards the 2016 spread is even bigger. “We had such an incredibly positive response to last year that we want to keep growing and build it into a really memorable annual event,” The Happy Motel’s Jordan Jeavons says. “We’re lucky to have such a spectacular and intimate environment to operate in – few attendees will forget last year’s epic sunset and the heaving dance floor.” Curated with composer and Shaolin Afronauts bassist Ross McHenry, the music program is based on acts who will deliver a knockout run of live performances. “The idea behind programming is to provide a really great range of contemporary music,” Jeavons says. “[So it] builds from an intimate and relaxing afternoon into a full blown dance floor.” https://youtu.be/2On9t2lWVUE Hokum blues favourite C.W. Stoneking will bring his newly danceable electric sound to the stage alongside the already-danceable sounds of AMP winning rapper REMI. Melburnians Ainslie Wills and Dan Kelly will both air tracks from their new records while duo Sweet Jean will bring some dulcet duets to proceedings. Sex On Toast are not in fact a menu item, but a Victorian funk gang set to cast a boozy veneer over the place with their brand of babymaking music. Adelaide country crooner turned king of the tributes Max Savage will follow up performances of hit albums by Springsteen, Van Morrisson and Paul Kelly with a start-to-finish run through of Paul Simon’s 80s classic Graceland. More local acts are still to be announced. Jeavons is keeping mum about details of this year’s food spread, but like last year there will be plenty of cooking in the air. “We’ll of course be firing up the Coriole Wood Oven again and setting up our grills but more to come on that soon.” Here’s To Now takes place at Coriole Vineyards on Saturday, January 2, with tickets available here. https://youtu.be/DofDOKYOi7I
