Amanda Palmer confirmed for 2020 RCC Fringe and Fringe ambassadorship

Alternative cabaret sensation Amanda Palmer will return to Adelaide next year as part of the 2020 RCC Fringe program, while also taking up the mantle of Fringe ambassador alongside music industry legend Marcia Hines and Briefs star Fez Fa’anana.

Palmer is a regular visitor to South Australia, having last performed in Adelaide as part of the 2017 Adelaide Fringe. This latest tour news follows the release of her third solo album in March, the crowdfunded There Will Be No Intermission.

“I’ve come to Australia almost every winter for the past 10 years,” Palmer told The Adelaide Review in 2017. “I absolutely love the place: I love the food, I love the strong flat whites, I love the art, I love my friends. I’m in a long-term non-monogamous relationship with the country.”

Palmer will perform two shows at the University of Adelaide’s Bonython Hall on 14 and 15 February – the first act to be confirmed for the 2020 RCC Fringe program. Palmer’s There Will Be No Intermission national tour will also take in a residency in Tasmania as part of Mona Foma and an appearance at Woodford Folk Festival.

Australian music industry legend and OG reality TV judge Marcia Hines is also set to return to the Fringe as a 2020 ambassador. Hines will also appear in a new, ‘rewired’ iteration of her popular Studio 54-inspired disco musical Velvet, which she first brought to Adelaide in 2015. Rounding out the trio of Fringe ambassadors is Fez Fa’anana, an Adelaide Fringe regular of the past decade whose key role in fleshy cabaret show Briefs has been a staple of the Fringe program in recent years.
