Tim Minchin to debut new show Back in Adelaide

Internationally acclaimed Australian comedian, composer and musician Tim Minchin will tour Australia in 2019 with Back, a new live show full of “old songs, news songs, f*** you songs”.

Back will make its Australian premiere in Adelaide, at the Thebarton Theatre on Friday, March 8 2019, and tour subsequently to Canberra, Perth, Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane. This marks Minchin’s first Australian tour since Tim Minchin Vs The Orchestra in 2011 and 2012.

Hailing from Perth, the multi-talented Minchin has had a meteoric rise from the Australian live show and TV circuit to most recently penning highly awarded musicals such as Groundhog Day and Matilda the Musical, which is still touring internationally today.

Minchin might not have toured in Australia for a few years, but the artist has remained in the public consciousness thanks to acting roles on television, those musicals and his engagement with Australian civic life.

Minchin courted controversy in 2016 with the release of his song Come Home Cardinal Pell in response to accusations made in the Royal Commission into Institutional Response to Child Abuse, and the Cardinal’s reluctance to return to Australia to face the commission.

Tickets for Minchin’s Back tour are currently on presale, and will be released to the general public from 2pm, Thursday, September 6.
