The Riverbank Palais and Parc Palais Float an Impressive Program

After a year’s sabbatical, the Adelaide Festival returns with a festival hub/club with the Riverbank Palais and Parc Palais double header.

The Festival’s return to the immersive venue space see some changes from years past as forums, panels and live theatre are part of this year’s festivities alongside elements that made Barrio and Lola’s Pergola such beloved instalments: live music, DJs and food from some of Australia’s best chefs.

The first major change from previous festivals is the venue. The floating Riverbank Palais will be the River Torrens home to some of the events and shows while other events (and wining and dining) will be held at the nearby Elder Park, which becomes Parc Palais for 18 days and will feature a free Neil Finn concert on Sunday, March 5. Another change is that the Festival Palais will be an all-day enterprise, with events going from breakfast until the late evening.

All Our Exes Live in Texas are also on the bill

More than 130 artists will flock to the entertainment precinct for 60 free and ticketed events which will run from Thursday, March 2 to Sunday, March 19 with Kurt Vile, Toro Y Moi, The Hot 8 Brass Band, The Bamboos, All Our Exes Live in Texas and Dave Graney & the Coral Snakes some of the musical acts. These performers will be joined by theatre work such as The Duke and Who Am I? as well as the labyrinth-like interactive work House of Mirrors.

On the food front and Gill Minervini (Dark MOFO) and Duncan Welgemoed (Africola) will curate the gastronomic delights for the Riverbank Palais while neighbouring Parc Palais will feature food from Brad Sappenbergh’s Comida.

Other exciting additions are the forums and panels to be hosted by two of this country’s most respected political commentators: Annabel Crabb and David Marr. Crabb will host the F Word, a series of evening conversation with prominent women including author Kate Grenville and columnist Lindy West. David Marr, on the other hand, will host a lunchtime series of free festival forums.

Other artists that will feature across the 18 days include local live acts Electric Fields and Urtekk while DJs Total Eclipse, Nickodemus, Frank Booker and Adelaide’s own Late Nite Tuff Guy will be on vibe duties.
