State Theatre Company Names Ex-Fringe, Slingsby Head as New Executive Director

Jodi Glass will take over for Rob Brookman as the State Theatre Company of South Australia’s new Executive Producer/Director.

Glass, a former CEO of the Adelaide Fringe and Executive Producer at Slingsby Theatre, has long been a strong force in the Adelaide arts scene, and said in a release that she is honoured to take the reins from Rob Brookman.

“I have the greatest respect and admiration for Rob, so it’s with enormous pride that I take over from him,” said Glass. “I’ll strive to lead the company with the same professionalism, commitment and passion as Rob, as well as bring my own experience, energy and style to the role.”

In her work at Adelaide Fringe, Glass oversaw massive expansion of the organisation as it became the second largest open-access arts festival in the world. Soon after leaving Fringe in 2005, she co-founded Slingsby Theatre with Andy Packer and took on the role of Executive Producer in the company. Slingsby has also seen strong growth in recent years, premiering its own original productions, many of which have toured internationally.

Glass says that she leaves Slingsby with sadness, but looks forward to a bright future with the State Theatre Company.

“I have absolutely loved my 9 years at Slingsby working with Artistic Director Andy Packer, the Board and the artists,” said Glass “I had planned for it to be much longer but State Theatre was an opportunity I couldn’t pass up.”

Glass’ extensive production skills are expected to increase the State Theatre Company’s touring opportunities in concert with Artistic Director Geordie Brookman.

“Her ability to combine inspirational leadership and generous collaboration has marked her out as one of Australia’s brightest young arts managers,” said Geordie Brookman. “I’m excited to forge a dynamic partnership with her to take State Theatre Company into the next phase of its exciting evolution.”

Outgoing Executive Director/Producer and father of Geordie, Rob Brookman, is equally as excited to see Glass take over his role.

“I could not be happier to be handing the reins at State Theatre Company to Jodi at this time and am confident that she will maintain and develop the momentum that we have built over the last five years,” said Rob Brookman.
