Church Of The Trinity, Sunday, February 23

The Church of the Trinity is the perfect setting to hear acoustic, minimalist music; and so David Bridie’s performance was perfectly placed. The resonance of the church space complemented Bridie’s rich vocal tones and ambient keyboard sounds and help to enhance the already atmospheric songs and soundscapes. Bridie performed two diverse solo sets with selections from My Friend The Chocolate Cake and Not Drowning, Waving, as well as songs from his latest album Wake. Bridie is also a capable and experienced film score composer so, as an added bonus, moving images were also projected during some of the pieces which helped evoke emotions and add mood to the piece of music. Passionate, politically and socially aware, and an engaging story teller Bridie never fails to both educate and entertain. Bridie’s music and songs are food for the soul, mind and heart.
