SALA Festival – Honor Freeman: Ghost objects
Jul 27 - Sep 30Free
In this collaboration between Guildhouse and the Art Gallery of South Australia, Adelaide-based artist Honor Freeman ‘ghosts’ the collection. Working primarily in porcelain, Freeman harnesses the mimetic qualities of clay through the magic of slip casting whereby porcelain casts echo the original objects. Liquid slip becomes solid, thereby becoming a memory of a past form — a ghost object.
As artist-in-residence, Freeman explores the residual stories (real and imagined) that orbit around the collection in objects of ritual, mourning and loss.
This Collections Project exhibition will be presented during the 2019 South Australian Living Artists Festival.
