Ramsay Art Prize 2019
May 25 - Aug 25Free
The Ramsay Art Prize, held every two years, is one of Australia’s richest art prizes – worth $100,000. This acquisitive prize for contemporary art is open to Australian artists aged under 40 and working in any medium. The Ramsay Art Prize has been established in perpetuity through the generosity of the James & Diana Ramsay Foundation.
Finalist works are selected by an eminent panel of judges and shown in a major exhibition at the Art Gallery of South Australia. The winning work is judged from the exhibition and enters the Gallery’s collection.
The 2019 judging panel comprises Russell Storer, Deputy Director (Curatorial and Research), National Gallery of Singapore; Richard Lewer, contemporary artist; and Dr Lisa Slade, Assistant Director, Artistic Programs, Art Gallery of South Australia.
The exhibition also includes a nonacquisitive People’s Choice Prize worth $15,000, supported by sponsor Lipman Karas and decided by public vote.
