SALA Festival – Hossein Valamanesh
Aug 8 - Sep 28Free
As one of South Australia’s most respected visual artists, Hossein Valamanesh’s In Love celebrates the artist’s renowned enigmatic practice, and expands upon his preoccupation with ideas of love, existence and the nature of being.
Experience the significant new architectural commission Enter, which immerses audiences in a labyrinth of light and love (or eshgh in Farsi). Under Valamanesh’s deft touch, the large-scale sculptural installation comes alive as a field of colour, rhythm and sentiment.
Enter is presented alongside the two-channel moving image installation Passing (2014), in its South Australian premiere (made in collaboration with Nassiem Valamanesh). Filmed on a railway in Victoria’s Yarra Valley, the work depicts both the oncoming and departing views of a meditative rail journey to evoke a sense of an ‘in-between-place’.
Enter is ACE Open’s South Australian Artist Commission for 2019 and is presented as part of SALA Festival.
