Kangaroo Island FEASTival

Kangaroo Island FEASTival

Kangaroo Island has an abundance of stunning food and wine and this month’s FEASTival is the perfect place to explore the range of goods on offer.

Headlining the event is George Calombaris who will serve up what’s sure to be a memorable feast from the island’s own produce beneath a marquee water-side at Kingscote. “The menu is a perfect example of how to create a dining experience around the produce, rather than use a few local tokenistic ingredients,” says Nick Hannaford, FEASTival’s producer. “The event is all about Kangaroo Island and the menu – it’s sure to be a real showstopper!” The Mystery Picnic is set to be an adventure waiting to happen. Nothing beats fish and chips (vegetarian also available) on a picnic rug and, with a local tasting pack for dessert, topped off with beach games and bar; it’s an irresistible event. If you want to get a little closer to the sea that provides so much of the island’s famous produce, Adventure Sailing with Kangaroo Island Sailing and Islander Estate Winery will no doubt satisfy. You’ll be treated to the spoils of Kangaroo Island Spirits before a gourmet dinner on-board the luxury yacht Lady Eugenie. Tasting Kangaroo Island is also one not to be missed, featuring the Signature Dish competition judged by a panel including Maggie Beer, Andrew Fielke and Manuela Darling-Gansser, as well as showcasing amazing edible offerings. The festival brings together those passionate about Kangaroo Island’s produce – from chefs and producer to residents hosting dinners in their own homes, all with a wealth of food and wine knowledge. Some events, such as Maggie Beer’s Roman Banquet and the Master Class with Tim Bourke and Kate Sumner, have already sold out so get in quick and get ready to indulge.
