Shop local: Ensemble Studio

Shop local: Ensemble Studio

There’s nothing more important to us than supporting local businesses during the busiest shopping season of the year: Christmas.

To kick off this local shopping series, we went deep into the Gilles St nook that is Ensemble Studios. A creative hub that brings together Good Studios by Anny DuffEmma Thomson’s E-S-TBB Shoemaker and Joyoga.

The storefront includes a collection of handmade, creative pieces that range from clothing and accessories to books and adorable pet accessories. If you’re lucky, you might run into Ottie: the resident greyhound that can often be seen lurking around the store.

We had the opportunity to chat with Anny Duff about Ensemble and the importance of supporting local businesses.

Tell us a little bit about Ensemble Studios
Ensemble Studios is a workshop, retail and gallery space for like-minded designers to come together to create and showcase their work. Located in Adelaide, South Australia, Ensemble is a curation of locally made, sustainable clothing, shoes, accessories, jewellery, plants and home wears, focusing on a refined minimalist aesthetic with an emphasis on nature, the environment and the use of natural materials. Ensemble aims to facilitate and celebrate artists and designers who explore and employ sustainable art practices. Our studio is also available for hire.

What are your current favourite products?
Current faves are Olivia Kathagitis hand earrings, Etikette Candles and Kerryn Levy Ceramics.

What is the importance of shopping local at Christmas time?
Supporting your local artists and designers goes a long way in keeping our arts and craft industry active and growing, which can only be a positive thing!
