Bowden Main Park

Category: Civic Landscape
Practice: ASPECT Studios

The keenly anticipated Bowden Main Park realises an exemplary public place for inner city living. The open space model for Bowdens urban renewal is led by a design ethos combining contemporary innovation and heritage. The Park plays upon the sites rich culture and built form, responding to the residential street context and domestic architecture, revealing red recycled bricks. The angular criss-crossing of materials layers the ground plane beneath Plant 4s iconic sawtooth roof.

The experience of playful delight in the context of the town square expands the market to a place of social cohesion and creative exchange. The vibrancy and intensity of the Parks use demonstrate the essential consideration of amenity for the prosperity of place, a task that Aspect Studios have superbly demonstrated in the delivery of an engaging, cohesive and integrated civic space.
