Tidlangga Playspace and Pocket Orchard

Tidlangga Playspace and Pocket Orchard

Category: Parks and Open Space
Practice: City of Adelaide – Design & Strategy

The Tidlangga Playspace and Pocket Orchard is far more than a playground. Initially proposed as a facility upgrade, the design team, together with the community, have delivered a much greater project with significant impact. The park caters for a diverse community and is a significant investment in active recreation, play and passive spaces that have been stitched together seamlessly.

Tidlangga has looked beyond typical elements and reimagined what play and nature could mean. The recreation elements allow for sensory, active, cognitive and passive play, fostering exploration and interaction. The existing recreation facilities have been complimented with a community instigated pocket orchard, an exploratory path through the existing native vegetation, nature play features, lawn, picnic shelters and two play equipment areas. Tidlangga has transformed the lower North Adelaide Park into a lively, green integrated community hub of activity and created unique City experience connecting users of all ages and abilities to the environment.
