Joseph Mitchell will commence his role as Director for the 2015 OzAsia Festival in July, which will focus on Indonesia and feature the enchanting culture of the Indonesian archipelago.

Originally from Newcastle, Mitchell is currently based in Toronto, Canada where he is Senior Director at Luminato Festival and has extensive programming experience on an international scale, having previously held roles in Queensland. “I am thrilled to be appointed as OzAsia Festival Director, one of Australia’s most exciting and unique international arts festivals and I look forward to building on the successes achieved to date. “I am particularly excited about exploring new artistic collaborations that celebrate and respond to the unique part of the world we live in,” he said. Jacinta Thompson, out-going Festival Director, has taken up a position as the Executive Director of the Bob Hawke Institute at the University of South Australia. “I’d like to thank Jacinta for growing OzAsia into the premier Australian cultural event based on works from the Asian region,” said CEO and Artistic Director of the Festival Centre, Douglas Gautier. “This Festival is in good hands as Joseph takes over,” he said. The 2014 Festival focuses on South Australia’s sister state, Shandong Province and runs from September 3-21, featuring over 140 performers from the region. adelaidefestivalcentre.com.au/ozasia-festival
