The artists in both emerging and established categories were selected from a range of 83 Australian and New Zealand entries both at home and across the world. Prize winners are set to take home a $20 000 prize in the established artist category, and $2500 plus professional development opportunities in the emerging artist category. Winners for 2016 will be announced on Thursday, May 12, and the work of all fifteen finalists will be held on exhibition at JamFactory Adelaide from Friday, May 13 until Sunday, July 3, then later at JamFactory Seppeltsfield. A prestigious panel of six judges, including Dr Robert Bell, Senior Curator of Decorative Arts and Design at the National Gallery of Australia and Lisa Slade, Curator of the 2016 Adelaide Biennial of Australian Art will decide on the final winners. Brian Parkes, Chief Executive Officer and Artistic Director at JamFactory, will also serve as a judge and noted in a press release that “the judges were thrilled with the quality of the applications and it required intensive debate to bring the field, which included so many leading Australian and New Zealand artists working in glass, down to just ten established and five emerging finalists.”
