New food festival The Curated Plate unveils first program

The Curated Plate, a new four-day food festival will make its debut on the Sunshine Coast in August 2019.

Celebrating the chef, the producer, and the best of the region’s produce, the festival will bring together local heroes and leading chefs in the Australian and international dining scene. The Curated Plate’s first program features exclusive culinary events that will span the region and bring its unique local artisan culture to life.

The festival provides an opportunity for food lovers to experience the Sunshine Coast’s acclaimed produce and producers, and immerse themselves in the flavours of the latest organic and sustainable practices. The program includes long lunches and foraged dinner degustations in The Curated Plate’s specially built restaurant on Mooloolaba Beach, a three-day bustling food fair, an outdoor cinema by the beach, various tourism and food-led experiences, and The Culinary Collective restaurant series which sees The Curated Plate’s world-renowned guest chefs collaborate in the kitchens of the region’s superstar chefs.

Situated in the heart of the Sunshine Coast, The Curated Plate is an opportunity to spend a long weekend exploring the region’s hinterlands, rainforests and endless beaches before then retreating to fourdays of eating incredible produce from the hinterlands’ rich volcanic soil, cooked by the world’s leading chefs in idyllic scenery.

One of the centrepieces of the Curated Plate program is a long weekend at Spicers Tamarind Retreat, where guests will dine with 2 Michelin star chef, Zaiyu Hasegawa, of acclaimed Japanese restaurant Den. Other program highlights include A Hinterland Harvest, a Friday long lunch led by Raymond Blanc OBE of Belmond Le Manoir aux Quat’Saisons, owner of Sydney’s nel restaurant Nelly Robinson and plant-based innovator Alejandro Cancino. Clayton Wells will be joined by Kiwi chef Monique Fiso and Wild Forage Australia’s Nick Blake on Saturday, August 10 for A Regional Evolution, highlighting the value of seasonal menus and locally foraged produce.
