Hot 100 Wines welcomes new Harvest event

Winter is here and with it a brand new Hot 100 Wines event to help you embrace that urge to explore the warming red wines and hearty dishes that come with the season.

Held over two days at the end of June in the Adelaide Convention Centre’s new East Building, Hot 100 Winter Harvest will be showcasing South Australia’s most drinkable wines and an opportunity to meet the winemakers in a cosy setting, tucked away from the elements in the heart of Adelaide’s Riverbank entertainment precinct.

The fun starts on Friday with a special EOFY degustation lunch with South Australia’s iconic Henschke family, who are celebrating 150 years of winemaking in 2018. Hosted by Stephen Henschke, fifth-generation winemaker, the lunch will feature four exquisite courses expertly matched to Henschke’s best with access to the general tasting area all included, along with your own Riedel glass.

French cheese expert and bon vivant Valerie Henbest will team up with Shaw + Smith’s Dan Coward for an hour-long Discovery Session – Pinot & Fondue – on Friday evening and again on Saturday afternoon.

Also on Saturday, discover the influence music can have on the winemaking process with Hot 100 Head Judge Peter Dredge, winemaker at Dr Edge. He’ll be on the decks during the session to provide a live music snapshot of his personal inspiration. On Saturday, there’s also opportunity to delve into the delicious world of vermouths and fortified wines with a Discovery Session hosted by local wine and spirit identity (and Hot 100 head steward) Mark Reginato and cook and author Rebecca Sullivan.

In between sessions, stroll around the stands hosted by some of South Australia’s leading Hot 100 winemakers, sampling as you go, grab a bottle to share with your friends or drop into the Winter Harvest kitchen for a taste of something slow-cooked and hearty.

Hot 100 Winter Harvest is a great chance to taste wines that are more suited to the cooler months. With a special ‘Friday Knockoffs’ offer available, it is an ideal space for afterwork drinks on Friday with colleagues, or a great way to spend a wintry Saturday afternoon with friends.

A true culinary journey, it will feature four gourmet courses matched with wines from Hot 100 finalists, Shaw + Smith, d’Arenberg, Jericho and Leconfield.
