Adelaide’s 70 year secret

Adelaide’s 70 year secret

Many long-running business names are such day to day sights around Adelaide that they become part of the landscape, existing for so long that most of us couldn’t say when or how they started.

Rawsons is one of these ‘secret’ local success stories. More than 20 yellow Rawsons service vans are out on the road every day and the company has a staff of more than 60. Rawsons is now so much more than an electrical company but where did it all begin?

Returning from WWII with a Distinguished Flying Cross, Ken Rawson (OAM) started a simple electrical repair service centre in 1946 from his home in Glenelg. Fast forward 72 years and Rawsons is now a third-generation family operation that attributes the success of the business to the relationships they have built over the years with both business partners and clients.

The company has expanded from electrical and appliance sales to now house one of South Australia’s most impressive ranges of kitchen, laundry & outdoor appliances and bathroom ware including some European brands exclusively available via their stores.

A showroom at Unley and another newly renovated and expanded at Plympton showcase elegant design, timeless style and innovation with brands from around the world such as Miele, Gaggenau, Neff, Smeg, Gessi & Weber – all of which started from humble beginnings to become leaders in their field.

“The shared passion that we have with brands like these to take ideas from simple design concepts to state-of-the-art products that enhance the lives of people around the world is what makes our business tick,” explains Sales Director Jon Pysing.

“Rawsons seeks to keep pace with the ever-changing kitchen and bathroom industry to deliver a premium choice of products for all South Australians. We understand the needs of individual clients, and that what may be important to one is not necessarily important to another.”

Rawsons’ highly trained sales team work directly with retail clients as well as builders, architects and designers to ensure all aspects of their kitchen, bathroom and alfresco design specifications are met.

If a new kitchen, bathroom or outdoor entertaining is part of your plans for 2019, there’s no better time to visit the showroom than over the Christmas break. The holiday period gives clients the chance to research products and often make decisions together in a more relaxed environment. Breathe life into your ideas by experiencing a Rawsons Appliances • Bathrooms showroom.
