Gorgeous Festival 2015

Gorgeous Festival 2015

South Australian music, food and wine festival slash sensory overload Gorgeous Festival has just unveiled the first tangible glimpse of its 2015 event.

Heading up the music lineup for this year is the inimitable Kate Miller-Heidke, who’s enjoyed an interesting year following the independent release of her fourth album O Vertigo. Among all the usual touring rigamarole Miller-Heidke has lent her talents to Opera Australia, co-writing an opera based on John Marsden’s children’s book The Rabbits. A parable about the complexities of colonialism, it’s a work that has won wide acclaim while invoking the ire of Andrew Bolt, a real bucket list achievement for any Australian musician. Also featured are Nicky Bomba‘s sprawling world music ensemble the Melbourne Ska Orchestra along with hard rock sister act Stonefield, eccentric pop singer Montaigne, folk duo Falls and hip hop scamp Dylan Joel. Along with the interstaters the festival will welcome back SA acts Jesse Davidson and Rin McArdle, two singer-songwriters who have been familiar sights on the Gorgeous stage over the years, but return having collectively conquered a veritable mountain range worth of new heights. https://youtu.be/NB9I7FncCnY Perhaps the biggest shake up is the festival’s new location, upping stumps from its regular McLaren Vale home of Serafino Winery to venture down the road to Penny’s Hill Winery. Along with the music Gorgeous will feature an abundance of local produce of the food and drink variety including the return of the ‘Gorgeous Table’ on the Friday night, a huge dining experience that looks to be even grander on its second outing. “Not only are we privileged to be hosting the amazing talents of Kate Miller-Heidke, but to also boast about our new home at Penny’s Hill Winery and expose festival goes to a world class culinary program,” Gorgeous Festival director Alistair Cranney says. “[It] will make for an unforgettable festival experience in the heart of South Australian wine country.” https://youtu.be/GPK2PMGI86E   Gorgeous Festival 2015 – First line up announcement:  Kate Miller Heidke Melbourne Ska Orchestra Stonefield Montaigne Dylan Joel Jesse Davidson Rin McArdle Gorgeous Festival 2015 runs from Friday, November 27 to Saturday, November 28 at Penny’s Hill Winery.
