Icehouse to Tour Australia, NZ with 40 Years Live

Icehouse will celebrate its 40th anniversary next year, with a national tour of festival dates and solo shows across Australia and New Zealand.

The iconic Australian band, with decades of glory, 28 platinum album sales, eight Top 10 albums and 30 Top 40 singles to their names will play in Adelaide’s Therbaton Theatre on Thursday, February 9.

Icehouse, who originally formed under the banner Flowers in 1977 but changed their moniker for international markets, have been a tectonic force in Australian music and culture. From their debut album’s release in the early 80s, to the release of seminal tracks such as Great Southern Land and Hey Little Girl, to their induction into the ARIA Hall of Fame in 2006, Icehouse has been flowed through Australia’s musical bloodstream.

This tour will also mark the first time in 20 years that Icehouse has toured the North and South Islands of New Zealand. “40 years ago we had no idea that the band would last longer than a year, let alone still be performing four decades later” said Icehouse’s lead singer Iva Davies in a release. “There have been a lot of people involved over the years who have made all the shows happen and I’m always thankful for their efforts.

As we tour now there is still the thrill of walking out onto the stage like there was back in 1977, and we hope to continue to take the audiences on the journey with us”.
