It will be familiar territory for The Whitlams, who made their name in the 90s playing in pubs before hitting the national stage. The tour follows from this year’s more formal anniversary tour, where the band played in concert halls across the country with orchestral backing.
With their thick back-catalogue of seven albums and numerous hit singles, such as No Aphrodisiac, Fall For You and Blow Up The Pokies, The Whitlams come well-prepared for the eight-week, Eastern-state tour. Whitlams vocalist and pianist Tim Freedman says audiences should expect the band to dig deep into that catalogue in this tour, with some rare tracks thrown into the mix.
“We are going to prepare some rarely played album cuts from the first two albums Introducing and Undeniably and I’m sure they’ll suit the pubs as well as they did 25 years ago,” said Freedman in a release.
Two more stars from the 90s era of Australian rock will join The Whitlams on the tour in select cities. Alex Lloyd and Deborah Conway will be on the bill for shows in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, the Gold Coast and Adelaide.
