Plant, who maintains a legendary status in the rock world thanks to his work as Led Zeppelin’s vocalist and lyricist, will play the Thebarton Theatre in Adelaide on Thursday, April 5.
He and his band, Sensational Space Shifters, had already announced a slate of sideshows to accompany his performance at Bluesfest in Byron Bay, but have added more due to persistent demand.
The tour marks a unique opportunity for fans of Plant’s work. Having only previously played stadium shows in Australia, his sideshow tour will see him perform in more intimate theatre venues, including Thebarton Theatre here in Adelaide, Melbourne’s Palais Theatre, The Sydney Opera House, and Perth’s Riverside Theatre.
Plant is expected to play a selection of work from his lengthy career as part of Led Zeppelin and as a soloist, which includes no less than 16 albums and dozens of hit singles. Carry Fire is Plant’s latest album, having received strong reviews after its release earlier this year.
“It’s about intention, I respect and relish my past works but each time I feel the lure and incentive to create new work,” said Plant of his continued output earlier in the year. “I must mix old with new. Consequently, the whole impetus of the band has moved on its axis somewhat, the new sound and different space giving way to exciting and dramatic landscapes of mood, melody and instrumentation.”
