WOMADelaide adds French pop star Christine and the Queens

French singer/songwriter Christine and the Queens is the latest artist to join the WOMADelaide 2019 lineup.

The project of Nantes-born performer Héloïse Letissier, Christine and the Queens delivered their second album Chris in September to glowing reviews. Continuing a journey into themes of gender and identity that began with 2014’s Chaleaur Humaine, the album saw Letissier adopt the new, abbreviated and gender neutral name of the album’s title.

Christine and the Queens WOMADelaide appearance comes as the group mounts their first ever Australian tour, and will see them perform as part of the festival’s opening night lineup. They will join an already intriguing array of acts including Angelique Kidjo’s rework of Talking Heads’ Stop Making Sense, Khruangbin and Tkay Maidza.
