Australia’s twin electro-poppers The Veronicas and classic 90s rockers Killing Heidi have been announced as Handpicked Festival’s headline acts on Saturday, November 12.
While the Veronicas have been touring and playing around the world, Killing Heidi has recently reformed, and this year will celebrate 20 years since they formed in 1996. Adelaide siger/songwriter Thom Lion & The Tamers will also be joining those ARIA winning acts for the festival.
“Being able to host The Veronicas and Killing Heidi, two of the most iconic Australian bands from over the past 20 years on the same bill is quite stunning,” said event manager Kate Cooper in a release. Another new addition to the growing Handpicked Festival in 2016 will be the inclusion of a camping zone under the banner Tent City with space for up to 500 people.
The new camping spot will give punters the chance to “enjoy the amazing lineup or artists, feast on the regions award winning produce and wine, and then sleep it off.” Set in the rustic surrounds of Lake Breeze Wines, Handpicked Festival has run for a few years now, and was started by Lake Breeze wines in an effort to draw more attention to its wines and splendid cellar door facilities.
The announcement comes in concert with a new marketing and media push from the Langhorne Creek Region wineries and industry groups to raise the wine region’s visitor profile.
