Feast Festival Launches 2017 Program

Feast Festival Launches 2017 Program

Feast celebrates 21 years with a return to community-based programming for its 2017 incarnation with the queer festival’s co-founder and original producer, Margie Fisher, also back on board.

Feast’s 21st will be one to remember as the queer arts and cultural festival features more than 70 shows from Saturday, November 11 to Sunday, November 26. This year three ambassadors will help Feast celebrate: Erin Phillips (sports star), Raymond Zada (visual artist) and Trevor Ashley (cabaret artist).

It all kicks off on Saturday, November 11 with the annual Pride March at 6.30pm on Light Square before the Opening Night Street Party from 6pm at Hyde St featuring Electric Fields, DJ MumDad and Joanne (of Jackie fame).

Other special events include Picnic in the Park (Sunday, November 26 at Pinky Flat), the two-day national homosexual histories conference, Queer, on Friday, November 10 and Saturday, November 11 at Napier Building and the Ian Purcell Oration to be delivered by his friend and co-activist Kenton Penley-Miller at the State Library on Wednesday, November 15.

The two-week program includes an engaging programing of theatre, spoken word, film, cabaret, visual art and music as well as a conversation stream. Highlights include Velvet Chase Productions’ mixed-media physical theatre piece #nofilter, the comedy show The Dykeside and the conversation between Jason Ball and Crows’ co-captain Chelsea Randall about diversity in the AFL.

It will be a 21st for the ages.
