Todd Rundgren announces 2018 Australian tour

US producer and multi-instrumentalist Todd Rundgren has announced his return to Australia to celebrate his 70th birthday.

Rising to prominence with psychedelic garage rock outfit Nazz in the late 1960s, the following decade saw Rundgren emerge as an in-demand producer working with the likes of Patti Smith, Meat Loaf, Hall & Oates, New York Dolls and XTC. Rundgren’s success as a producer was punctuated by a string of solo releases including hit songs We Gotta Get You A Woman and I Saw The Light, as he built a reputation for idiosyncratic studio work and elaborate live shows.

Coinciding with his 70th birthday, the tour also includes a three day long birthday party dubbed ‘Todd-A-Roo’ on Sydney’s Cockatoo Island from October 22-24.  These dates mark Rundgren’s his first Australian tour since 2013, concluding in Adelaide with an appearance at the Crown & Anchor which promises to be a very intimate evening for fans of this cult favourite.

He’ll be backed on the Australian tour by Davey Lane’s Drunken Blue Roosters, led by You Am I guitarist and noted Rundgren superfan Davey Lane.
