Book Review: Less

Book Review: Less

Released in paperback following the book’s recent Pulitzer Prize for Fiction win, it is an ideal time to discover Andrew Sean Greer’s swift and witty Less.

The titular character (Arthur Less) is a writer of moderate acclaim who takes himself too seriously and is best known for his association with a famous group of writers via his former older lover Robert, a Pulitzer-winning poet.

Approaching 50 and with a more recent ex about to marry, Less decides to travel his worries away by accepting a bunch of invites that take him to bizarre literary engagements across the world.

The resulting trip is a unique comical journey that is unexpectedly moving and poignant, as you can’t help but cheer on this wonderfully silly man.

A delight.
