UPDATE: Due to the ongoing COVID-19 restrictions on mass gatherings, the State Theatre Company’s production of The Writer has been cancelled.

Power, gender and the world of theatre are examined in Ella Hickson’s incendiary play The Writer. A joint production from the State Theatre Company of South Australia and Sydney Theatre Company, The Writer sees Emily Barclay (Please Like Me, Glitch) portray a young playwright navigating the tensions and power hierarchies at play between herself and an older male director.
